Kunstbok Oslo mini-fair during Oslo Art Weekend, 29-31 of May

We are happy to present a selection of artists´ books and artist litterature during Oslo Art Weekend, May 29-31 at Kunstnernes Hus. Invited by OAW we will bring a presentation of what to look forward to at the main fair in November. The artists books are for sale, and we will also present books and zines from others just for reading.

Librarian Melissa Alejandra Johansen and Art Historian Max Rezar will work with us and meet the public.

Mini-fair at Oslo Art Weekend

We will present a mini-fair during Oslo Art Weekend 28-01 of Mai, 2026, invited as a part of OAWs Festival Hub at Kunstnernes Hus. Join us for a chat, read or buy artists books and to learn more about what to look forward to during our main fair at the National Library, 14-15 of November.

Iceland is our guest country 2026

In collaboration with the artist run art book store bókumbók in Reykjavík, Iceland we are pleased to announce Iceland as our first guest country. The collaboration is supported by Norsk-islandsk culture collaboration by Kulturdirektoratet and we are also collaborating with the embassies of Norway and Iceland in each country.

bókumbók will attend with artists and books in Oslo and Kunstbok Oslo will travel to Iceland with artists and books in December. Interested in traveling to Iceland or to have your book represented? Please let us know by emailing post@kunstbokoslo.no Artists applying must be based in Norway.

Nasjonalbiblioteket 2026

The venue of 2026 is Nasjonalbiblioteket/The National Library at Solli plass in Oslo. We look forward to present our third edition in the great halls of this historic building. One of the rooms was formerly used to house the Micro Film Archive. The National Library Bar and Bakery is run by the renowned restaurant Credo and will be open during the fair. Open Call 2026 here.

We hope to see you for a full day of artists books, food, driks and conversation in November!

Vi søker frivillige til neste års utgave, sen høst 2026. Ønsker du å bidra til gjennomføring av vår kunstbokfestival? Vi ser etter deg som har tidligere erfaring fra frivillig arbeid, men har også to plasser til folk uten erfaring som vil lære. Send oss gjerne noen ord på mail til post@kunstbokoslo.no hvor du forteller litt om deg selv og tildligere erfaring.

Hvor kan du kjøpe kunstbøkene fra messen?

Gikk du glipp av messen? Da har vi gode nyheter til deg som er på kunstbok-jakt.

Kunstnernes Hus bokhandel har tatt inn fem bøker fra hvert bord, Torpedo bokhandel og nettbutikk på Bislett har tatt in en rekke bøker, det samme har Tronsmo bokhandel og Nitja Senter for Samtidskunst gjort. KHiOs bibliotek har kjøpt inn flere bøker til kunstboksamlingen sin. Andre ledende kunstbok og nettbutikker er Tekstallmenningen i Bergen og Kunstbokhandelen B*stard på Lillehammer. Utgivere som Foot Books selger fra egen nettside.

Selv har vi en nettbutikk som åpner om litt hvor du kan kjøpe kunstbøker året rundt. Designet av Axel Berggraf Egenæs og kodet i år av Kurt Lekanger, støttet av Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond.

Besøksrekord på Kunstbok Oslo

Tusen takk til alle de tusenvis av nye lesere og publikum som fant veien til Kunstbok Oslo på Kunstnernes Hus helgen 15.-16. november, 2025. Det ble besøks- og salgsrekord.

Nitti kunstnere og uavhengige forlag presenterte bøker i fire rom, vi arrangerte seminaret The Art Book in Context kuratert av Prof. Dr. og forfatter Timotheus Vermeulen og kunstkritiker Nicholas Norton, Kunstbok & Barn tok i mot flere hundre barn og det var risograf workshop i Kunstnernes Hus risograf verksted.

Vår webshop for kunstbøker på denne siden åpner snart med bøker fra utstillerne, der kan du kjøpe kunstbøker året rundt. Vi anbefaler også Kunstnernes Hus bokhandel som har tatt inn fem bøker fra hvert salgsbord og Torpedo bokhandel på Bislett som tok inn mange fantastiske kunstbøker fra utstillerne, Torpedo har også nettbokhandel.

En stor takk til alle utstillere, kunstnere og våre samarbeidspartnere Kunstnernes Jur, Kunstnernes Hus og Kunstnernes Hus Kino som sjenerøst ga oss plass. De kan besøkes året rundt.

The program is curated by Prof. Dr. Timotheus Vermeulen and Art Critic Nicholas Norton.

Kunstbok og Barn

Kusntbok & Barn er et eget rom for barn under kunstbokmessen Kunstbok Oslo 15.-16. november som presenterer kunstbøker av nitti utstillere. Barn skal ikke være et hinder for å oppleve kunst og kunstbøker og vi vil med et eget rom for barn gjøre det gøy å ta del av en kunstopplevelse i ung alder.

I formidlingsrommet Felix, halveis opp trappen på Kunstnernes Hus kan barna tegne, kle seg ut i kostymer og lese bøker. Figurer og leker for de yngste. Vi legger også frem pepperkaker nå og da! :) Foreldre må selv passe på de yngste barna som ikke klarer seg selv og vi har vakt som jobber i rommet. Leser du en bok høyt får du garantert mange fans.

Velkommen alle barn og unge!

Would you like to Volunteer?

Would you like to become a part of our team as a volunteer at Kunstbok Oslo?

Our second edition takes place at the legendary Kunstnernes Hus, in Wergelandsveien 17, by the Royal Palace, 15-16 November, 2025.

We are looking for volunteers who likes books, art and people. There will be a social pree-meeting with training provided for volunteers and an opening party for all involved. We mainly communicate in Norwegian, but other languages is also great. A Volunteer Certificate will be provided when you are done, describing your assignments.

The assignments we would love some help with are: Guarding tables when the exhibitors needs a break, setting up/rigging sales tables in advance, be welcoming to the public visiting the fair, sales, take care of closed refreshment area for exhibitors and brew coffee/tea, assist in the childrens room, assist with microphones and provide fresh drinking water during the seminar and packing down the tables and chairs when we are finnished.

Kunstnernes Hus is the location for Kunstbok Oslo 2025

Kunstnernes Hus becomes collaborative partner and location for Kunstbok Oslo, taking place november 15-16, 2025. We look forward to welcoming the public and to fill this remarkable and historic house with art books, literature, zines, artists, authors, graphic designers and a seminar combined with the exhibitions at Kunstnernes Hus. We are also planning a small and fun program for kids who are always welcome to attend our festival!

The seminar is curated by Timotheus Vermeulen and Nicholas Norton and will take place in the cinema.

Kunstbok Oslo is arranged with the kind support of KORO - Public Art Norway, Kulturrådet/The Arts Council and Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond, 5% avgiften/The Artists Relief Fund.

The very first (test) edition of Kunstbok Oslo took place November 16. - 17. in Keysers gate 1. The space was rented from UKS - Unge Kunstneres Samfund, one of Norways oldest artist unions and exhibition spaces.

We are thrilled that as much as 4000 people visited us during the weekend and the preparations for a second edition has already started and will take place 15. - 16. November, 2025. Welcome back!

News from KUNSTBOK OSLO

Kunstbok Oslo is an Art Book Fair in Oslo, Norway, as well as an artist book webshop. Our first edition took place November 16-17, 2024, from 11.00-17.00 in Keysersgate 1. normally housing Unge Kunstneres Samfund.

The public discovered artist books, zines, prints, cartoons, monographies and literature by artists and publishing houses. Entrance was free and we also offered a program from the stage and a small café. The publications were for sale and you will also be able to buy most of them in our online webshop.
