Outside the Binary is a series of portraits of people who identify outside the gender binary. For some, this can mean having both a male and female identity, or something in between. One possible definition is “genderfluid”, which refers to a gender that varies over time – one can shift between feeling more male or female, but also androgynous or neutral. Another identity definition is “agender”. This can mean that one does not define through gender at all. The people in the project come from different parts of the world but share many of the same experiences.
