Jørund Aase
Sander
Jørund Aase (b. 1978, Stavanger, Norway) is an artist working experimentally and contemplatively using various media.
Seeking an impure, frugal beauty, coincidences of material and biological processes often play a decisive role.
Non-traditional materials are often used, such as thermoplastics and bacterially grown cellulose, as well as wood, reclaimed materials and found objects. The works can often be characterized by a dystopic mood, reflecting on the fragility of human civilization, at the same time encompassing humor and a life-afirming wonder at the world’s mysterious existence.
