Amalie Rugård Jensen is a visual artist with a background in conservation and printmaking. Her practice is based on a love for telling stories and an interest in how fragments and collections can reveal a narrative without giving away everything. She works with photography, text, drawing and printing techniques such as lithography to explore subjects related to ecology, poetry, and speculative narratives. Her work is inspired by natural history collections, expeditions into the unknown, obscure sciences and is an attempt to get closer to all that is shimmering and strange in this world.
Damkarussen taler is a handprinted, handbound artist book containing a monologue from the Crucian carp, a small fish capable of surviving difficult conditions in strange ways. A fish we might learn something from. The illustrations are printed with lithography and the text with letterpress print.

Dem som bor i dammen is simply a story about the question of how to survive when the conditions for life are changing. About an intern sent out to observe a pond, but in turn becomes the observed. And about a fish who fails to care.
